Song Review for "Name In The Sand"

Larry LaBlanc of Billboard Magazine

"A lot of people try and sing the blues or bluesy type material, most people can't do it very well. It takes a great singer and it also takes a great song. That's what Alana Kurtis has provided".

CD Review

The Ottawa SUN

"...Kurtis' music is a rootsy blend of country and folk sensibilities, reminiscent at times of Roseanne Cash."

"Any artist would be hard-pressed to meet the expectations that arise from reading this Canadian singer-songwriter's bio: Travels through 17 countries before age 21 and an impressive formal education at the California Institute for the Arts that touched on everything from jazz to East Indian styles. For all this, Wiser is a surprisingly staid foray into country-tinged soft rock, albeit a solid one. It's less ethereal than Sarah McLachlan but happily substitutes an honest, lived-in feeling for the former's new agey tendencies. Kurtis does indeed sound Wiser."
